The Global Misogyny News Coverage Tracker: The Missing Misogyny-related Coverage in an Era of Endemic Violence against Women is the 7th report in the award-winning Missing Perspectives series. It is the inaugural edition of a report which will become an annual tracker review of the news media’s levels and quality of coverage of misogynistic harassment and violence against women and girls. This solutions-based report, which includes a best-practice how-to checklist, is anchored in five groundbreaking methodologies including analyses of over a billion online news stories and a qualitative assessment of existing coverage.
The report is targeted at newsrooms, news editors and leaders, journalists, funders and foundations, policymakers and NGOs. It builds a powerful evidence-based case for why it is imperative to invest in journalism that investigates misogyny-related stories centring on women and girls, an area currently woefully underrepresented in light of the endemic levels of violence, the impacts of this on millions of women’s and girls’ lives, and the high counterinvestment in anti-equality narratives.
